Hi everybody. Last Monday I went with my classes of Liceo Scientifico Grigoletti to the Concordia theatre to see your show Dr Jekyll & mr Hyde - we’d been waiting soooo long!!
Last year I enjoyed so mych the show Hamlet in Concert by the same director. Your new production actually puzzled me, so to speak. To tell you the truth I expected something more ... rock! How come you opted for such a traditional kind of music, taking into account the dark-side of the main character?
I've also asked my students to leave their comments here. Hope you'll answer.
Thanks a million!

Dear Sam,
to me you were the one that acted better. I liked your way of acting very much, and your voice too. I think Utterson is very important in the plot because without him we couldn’t discover nothing about Jekyll’s double personality. He’s the character who appears the most in the play too, and I liked him even because of this. I haven’t got any criticism to you. You were very good (:
I’d like to ask you if is it hard to prepare a musical like that. I’m waiting for an answer.
Goodbye (:

Hi Jeff Chandler,
I'm Desirèe and I saw the musical "Jekyll e Hyde" where you interpreted the Street Singer. I liked very much as you interpreted this part and this is the character who more impressed me. You were very expressive and your role was very important in the musical because you connected some scenes. In addition your character ramained happy also in the drammatic situation. In fact you were never sad or terrified, on the contrary you found ever situation amusing.
The part that I prefered was the introdution because you involved me in the show with your tone of voice and your moviments that were very strange.
I liked also your costume because was very particular and this has caught my attention.
In the future I would like to see you in a new show.
Compliments,
bye bye |

Hey there Sam.....
How are you doing? My name is max and I attend the liceo Grigoletti. I've seen your show, and I decided to comment your performance. I think you were the best actor in the show because when you spoke or when you sang, you were able to catch everyones attention, ora at least mine which is a very hard thing. I belive that your voice is lovely and you were able to sing and act at the same time, for the all show, without any hesitation. Your acting was also nice, because when you spoke you always did it with feeling and you made it sound real. in my opinion you did nothing wrong because everything you did and said was clear and easy to understand.
Very well done,
I hope you come back next year so that we can all enjoy another one of your shows. [Modificato da Light-yagami 06/04/2009 11:35] |

Among the actors I think that you, Sam, as Utterson, are the best because you involved me more than everybody.
You have a very good voice to sing and recite really well.
Besides on the stage you have the physical appearence that I expected about Utterson before the show.
For me the music of the show was perfect for that type of story. Your language was very comprehensible and this helped the public.
About the scenoraphy I think that is not very spectacular but for me is fair enough.
In conclusion I say that the show was very pleasant, perhaps also because I really like "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". |

Dear James,
I like your interpretation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I think you are the best actor because you were able to hide the identity of Mr. Hyde until the end and you have a very good voice, strong and in tune. I have some questions for you: why when you become Mr. Hyde you wear only one glove with claws? Did you attend a music school?
Goodbye!!!

Hi Cindy!!!
I'm Eleonora and I went to see the show "Jekyll & Hyde the musical" to the Auditorium Concordia last Monday. I only wanted to say to you that the show was, in my opinion, very nice and interesting, I found it a little bit longer but however I was able to follow all the performance.
I wanted to send you my compliments because even you had little roles in the show you knew how to perform them best.
I also wanted to say to you that you have a beatiful voice and you were able to interpreted the songs very well.
I was surprised to discover that you are from Amsterdam and not from England, because of your pronunciation, I think that you have a very good pronunciation even being dutch.
Finally I hope to see another performance of yours in the coming years.
ByeBye!!!!! |

Dear James,
I really liked the musical “Jekyll and Hyde”. The songs weren’t very very beautiful, but you and the other actors were fantastic singers (but you were the best!). I liked very much your interpretation of Dr. Jekyll, and also of Mr. Hyde, but I have only one question: when I had not already seen the musical I was very curious to see the face of Mr. Hyde, and I’m a little disappointed because we had seen Mr. Hyde only once and only with light effects. Couldn’t you use a mask or something similar? The musical was however fantastic! My compliments! Bye bye
Claudio

Hi Jeff!
My name is Anna and I do Liceo Grigoletti in Pordenone.
I saw you when you with your company went to the theatre Concordia, for the musical Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The rule of street singer, for me, is an important rule because this character introduced the show, so is important that he involve the audience from the beginning.
Your rule has been successful, because you played with passion and skill. I know that the rule of the street singer isn’t as important as Jekyll, but I think that it is important to explain to the audience change of scene or other important things.
I found your costumes very funny and strange , half more elegant and half poor.
I want to ask you: why you make this decision? Why your clothes are “half and half”?
Perhaps you want to make a double personality? Or opposition as Hyde and Jekyll, Bella and prostitutes?
Your voice was very clear and laud.
I hope to returned to see again other your musical.
Thanks. Bye bye. Anna

Hi,
I was very curious to watch the performance of doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde.
I think that the best character is the street singer.
Initially I though that the man that wore strange suit was doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde in only actor , because half suit was elegant and polished whereas the other half was dirty and frazzled.
Instead the strange man was the street singer.
I like this character , because he goes into the scenes without upsets the course of events.
Then public, I think wasn’t irritated by this figure.
His diction was fluent. Also his movement were fluent and coordinated.
Jeff’ s make up was very original, because the actor had the beard only on the left, where there was the “bad” face ( mister Hyde).
Also the other actors and actress were very good.
The group of actors was happy and enthusiastic to speak whit us.
I think that the musical was a success, because the applauses were encouraging ( above all for doctor Jekyll ) and the participation and the presences were numerous!

Hi Fraser Grant,
my name is Pier and I attended your show 'Jekyll and Hyde'in Pordenone last monday. First of all I'd like to express my congratulations to you for the amazing performance. I'd like to make a list of the greatest things of the show in my opinion: well, I enjoyed the interpretation of each actor very much but I've found the performance of Leigh absolutely awesome: I think it shouldn't be easy for him to interpret the roles of Lanyon, Enfield, Sir Danvers and inspector Newcomen and stay for a long time in the stage as he had stayed. I've also been impressed by the extraordinary skill of sing of each actor. I didn't expected that they could sing as well as they did. Nevertheless I've found some incosistencies in your show: Lanyon, Jekyll and Utterson said that they were old friends and that they have been friends since they were young boys..But how can it be so if the actors are an old man (Lanyon) a middle-aged man (Utterson) and a quite young one (Jekyll)?..Then I'd like to suggest you to make clearer the (maybe recorded)voice of Mr.Hyde when he speaks with Utterson for the first time. Next, personally I didn't enjoy the idea of the projecting lights to produce the face of Mr.Hyde very much. What about putting him a mask? Maybe under his coat so he could take it when he is lying on the floor? Congratulation again and take a look at my pieces of advice Looking forward to receiving your answer

Hi everybody,
First of all, congratulations to the director and the actors.
I enjoyed how the story of Dottor Jekill and Mister Hyde was put on scene and how the actors played their characters. A little bit less the screenplay, too thin; and especially the songs that were too long, and therefore boring and they were too calm, that is not just for the drammatic story of Dottor Jekill and Mister Hyde.
But the show was still enjoyable to watch.
Now I have some question for the director:
Why did you decide to not lower the curtain between the scenes? Maybe with a break in mid-performance public attention would have been higher throughout the show, above all in the end.
..And Why, in the end, did you decide to project images on the face of mister Hyde to create a sort of morphing? Honestly I expected a final more involving.
That's all.

Dear Sam,
I like the characters that you have do, because even if isn’t the protagonist he is the characters that is more on the stage and he speaks and sings more than the others; and if there hadn’t been any mr.Utterson nobody would have discovered the history of dr.Jekyll and mr.Hyde. For me you have sung and recited very well.
Compliment!!!!
Andrea

To Jeff
I'm Alberto and I saw your show "the strange case of dottor Jekill and Mr Hyde" in Pordenone. I really like your role, the street singer, because you act very well and you involve all the people. I liked very much the idea of make the street singer a character inside the story, not an external character like I expected before the show. Your clothes are very funny and your movements and facial expressions too. You spoke loud and clearly and this is a good thing because I understand all when you act.
I hope to see you in a new show in the coming year
compliment to all actor, especially to you

Hi all
Thanks for all your comments, it is great to hear what you think. Just to answer some of your questions: Hyde only has one clawed hand to show that part of Jekyll remains within his character and also the fact that his appearance is unbalanced reflects the lack of balance in his mind. Secondly the decision not to show Hydes face was a directorial one but in my opinion this scenario was chosen as anything we could have done with make up or masks would not be as scary as you in the audience can create with your own imagainations. I always find it dissapointing to see the face of the monster in a horror film. Finally I have never attended a music school as such but I have been having singing lessons since I was young and singing was part of my training at drama school too. Hope this answers your questions, thanks again for taking the time to post your comments.
