Hi, I want to know why you always change the colour and the shape of the fan, during the performance,

Hi,

Before we started rehearsing the play we sat down and discussed the meaning of the Fan. In the disussion we decided that the fan means and represents many different things. Topo many to mention, for instance, Lady Windermere's innocence, herself and the rules of the society she lives in, to name a few.

It was then the artistic intention of the director to demonstrate the changes in the play with changes in the fan. The fan can then be a sort of sign, to highlight emotional intensity in the play or create the atmosphere itself.

at the end of the play, Lady Windermere (Charlotte Blake) has grown up and she no longer recognises the fan as a symbol of society, she no longer needs it, so she gives it away.

by making a mistake, attempting to leave her husband for lord darlington (William Vasey) , she realises that life is not simple. she becomes an adult and is aware of a more grown up world.
